The first thing you will have to do for any freelance website is sign up, you will have to create a user name, password, and provide an email address. Depending on which freelance site you use, you may be required to provide payment methods to fund your account, which pays the freelancers.
After the above is completed, you can begin to post your projects. You will need to determine what category your project falls under. A freelance website will provide you with several pre-determined categories such as writing, graphic design, website design, flash, transcription, audio services, and various other programming areas. It is up to you to determine the appropriate category your project falls under. If you need articles, press releases, or web content, you will want the writing category, and so on.
You will next have to write a description of your project. When posting projects on a freelance website, you will need to be as descriptive as possible. You will also want to be relatively brief at the same time. Provide details of the work needing to be done, give an estimation of amount of work as well. In keeping with the writing example, you will want to explain the topics, if possible. You will also want to state the number of articles, how many words they should be, and you definitely want to state your deadline if you have one.
You should also include other factors such as showing examples, if you have a preference on language spoken and written by the writer, if the articles are rewrites or originals, and other such details.
After the description, you will be asked to designate a budget for the project. You should keep in mind the current going rate for the job needing done, as well as the time it will take. The budget should be fair and given a range. Some freelance websites allow you to skip the budget section; however, you should expect freelancers to bid accordingly. It is generally a good idea to state your budget, this way freelancers know what to expect, and if they are willing and able to work within that budget.
